Teaching staff and students will now be able to share even the smallest objects, passages of text or detailed experiments with a larger audience, thanks to a new visualiser launched by award-winning projector specialists, Optoma.
With an output resolution of up to 1080p, the new DC450 visualiser is capable of delivering incredible clarity that will capture the attention of the class. Its 8 megapixel camera, 10x optical zoom and up to 30 frames-per-second video produces incredible detail to the tiniest of objects.
It is one of only a handful of visualisers on the market that has dual VGA and HDMI inputs and outputs, which makes presentations using the DC450 truly interactive. They allow teachers to connect a PC or laptop to the document camera as well as the projector. Smart DC software, supplied with the DC450, then allows teachers to annotate on the image captured by the visualiser and capture their lessons as video clips. They can easily switch between the image from the visualiser to external content held on the PC, such as Powerpoint, pdfs digital images and webpages.
Building upon Optoma’s popular DC350 visualiser with its A4-size shooting area and XGA resolution, the new DC450 boasts an impressive shooting area of A3 landscape (297 x 420 mm).
Justin Halls, Head of Product Management at Optoma commented: “The addition of HDMI output enables teaching staff to show full 1080 High Definition quality video and audio. It can really engage the class by showing tiny 3D objects or passages of text in crystal clear detail to the big screen. You simply position items under the camera, connect it to a projector and show everything on the big screen live as it happens.
“Combined with a sleek design and robust build quality, the DC450 is the perfect addition to any classroom, boardroom or training venue.”
A handy feature engineered into the DC450 is its rotating camera lens. This allows the presenter to place the item being captured the same way up as the image that is projected. Users can simply rotate the lens to change the orientation or rotate the image in software using Smart DC.
Suitable for classrooms, lecture theatres, boardrooms and auditoriums, the new DC450 is light-weight, portable and easy to move between rooms. The gooseneck feature makes precise positioning incredibly straightforward.
As well as visualising 3D objects and text, the new DC450 can turn lessons into video through its recording feature. These videos and photographs can be used in future presentations by saving them to the on-board memory or to a SD card, or simply transferring them to a PC or laptop using the USB cable supplied. With both VGA and HDMI inputs and outputs, the DC450 will connect to most devices.
It has an excellent automatic focus. Manual focus is also available when additional critical detail is needed. Images can be saved at 0.8MP, 2MP, 5MP and 8MP resolutions to an SD card and up to 240MB can be saved to the DC450’s on-board memory.
The visualiser also has eco-friendly LED lighting built into the head with three brightness settings to produce additional lighting if required. It can be controlled either via the remote control or the base of the unit.
